Usage Instructions for Splicing Glue in Summer

In high-temperature environments during summer, the viscosity of splicing glue will decrease by approximately 10-20% compared to normal temperatures. With the rise in temperature, molecular activity increases, resulting in better flow. It is normal for the viscosity of all adhesives to increase in low temperatures and decrease in high temperatures, with a typical fluctuation of around 20% under normal temperature variations. It is essential to understand that viscosity values only reflect the state of the adhesive and are unrelated to adhesive strength; viscosity ≠ bonding strength.

Solution: When using splicing glue, ensure a proper application amount, and use it quickly with minimal mixing. It is recommended to use the mixed glue within 30 minutes. Do not use splicing glue that has exceeded its activity period.

In summer, the cross-linking reaction of splicing glue with the curing agent accelerates significantly in high-temperature environments.

After mixing, splicing glue undergoes a cross-linking reaction. The isocyanate groups (-NCO) in the curing agent react chemically with hydroxyl groups (-OH) in the main agent and wood, forming complex, large molecular structures. During the high temperatures of summer, this reaction accelerates noticeably. Whether the mixed splicing glue can be used within a short time directly affects the bonding effectiveness of wood.

Solution: Use the mixed glue within 30 minutes to avoid a decrease in bonding strength due to the completion of the reaction. It is crucial to note that the degree of chemical reaction between the isocyanate groups (-NCO) in the curing agent and the hydroxyl groups (-OH) in the wood directly influences the bonding strength and water resistance of the spliced wood.

In summer, the molecular activity of splicing glue is enhanced, leading to faster drying.

Solution: After applying the glue, complete the pressing operation within approximately 3-5 minutes, with a maximum duration of 10 minutes. Failure to do so may result in false adhesion due to the formation of a film on the glue surface, leading to quality issues. Therefore, regardless of the type of glue, it is essential to use the glue as quickly as possible while ensuring a good application amount.

In summer, the foaming phenomenon of splicing glue becomes more pronounced.

In hot summer weather, the addition of curing agent to splicing glue accelerates the foaming process compared to other seasons. Within the active period, this does not affect the normal use of the glue. However, excessive ratios can shorten the active period and significantly increase the foaming phenomenon.

Solution: Under high-temperature working conditions, control the curing agent ratio reasonably, lowering it by 1-2 points. It is advisable to use the mixed glue within 30 minutes, especially in high-temperature working conditions.
