Maintenance of Anilox Roller

 Running-in of New Rollers

It is advisable not to use new rollers for important orders without testing. Although a mesh roller undergoes processes such as dehairing and polishing before leaving the factory, and undergoes pre-running-in to effectively reduce wear on the doctor blade during use, this does not mean that the importance of running-in during the use of new rollers can be ignored. When a new roller is first installed, timely attention should be paid to observation. If lines are found, the machine should be stopped promptly for wiping the doctor blade. Under normal circumstances, the hardness of particles is not sufficient to cause wear on the mesh roller, but it cannot be ruled out that some hard microparticles may be impacted against the mesh wall under the action of the doctor blade, resulting in small ceramic debris being wedged in the edge of the doctor blade. In less than one shift, irreversible grooves can be worn out, leading to direct scrapping of the roller. This is often the reason why users complain that new rollers are more prone to problems compared to old ones. Generally, after 2-3 weeks of continuous running-in, the sensitivity of the mesh wall to the impact of hard microparticles decreases after being acted upon by ink, doctor blade, and plate roller.

 Shutdown Preparation

During short-term shutdowns, the mesh roller needs to keep rotating. During long-term shutdowns, the doctor blade should be separated in time, the rubber pressure roller should be loosened, and the floating ink should be cleaned to prevent uneven ink supply or difficult-to-clean situations after the ink component dries out during subsequent use.

 Doctor Blade Coordination

High-quality doctor blades are an important factor in ensuring the user experience of mesh rollers. The hardness of the blade edge should be appropriate, not the harder, the better. The blade shape should be appropriate, and attention should be paid to regular replacement.

 Ink Cleanliness

Clean ink is essential for preventing scratches on the mesh roller.

 Mesh Roller

Ink Loading Detection Although ceramic rollers have high hardness and long service life, they will also experience corresponding wear with increasing usage time. This leads to a gradual decrease in the ink loading capacity of the mesh roller with increasing usage time. Therefore, if comprehensive and standardized management of the mesh roller is required, it is necessary to regularly detect the actual ink loading capacity of the mesh roller.
