How Digital Printing Works

Digital printing is the printing of digital graphic information directly recorded on the substrate material. That is to say, the input is a digital stream of graphic information, and the output is also a digital stream of graphic information, which is a kind of printing in parallel with traditional printing.

The printing process of the digital mode also needs to go through the analysis and design of the original manuscript, the processing of graphic information, printing, post-press processing and other processes, which only reduces the plate making process. Compared with the traditional printing mode of Desktop Publishing (DTP) system, digital printing is only different in the way of output. Traditional printing is to record the graphic information output to the film or plate, while in the digital printing mode, the digital graphic information is directly recorded on the substrate material.

Digital printed images can be created directly from digital data without the use of any "analog" intermediate media. It originates from pages created in digital form or containing various printed elements, such as text or images. Unlike traditional printing processes, digital printing does not require a pre-press process from digital documents to printed finished products, without film, image integrators, plates, platemakers, actinics and other "analog" elements. In addition, there is no printing press preparation: no plate installation, no calibration adjustment, no ink waste. The HP Indigo digital press process is digitally operated from graphic creation to printing. Because it is an all-digital process, each image is unique and allows information to change as needed.

Digital printing is a new type of printing technology which uses the pre-press system to transmit the graphic information directly to the digital printing machine through the network. Digital printing system is mainly composed of pre-press system and digital printing machine. Some systems are also equipped with binding and cutting equipment.

How digital printing works: Output the graphic digital information (original) or digital information of digital media or network digital files received from the network system to the computer, on the computer to create, modify, arrange into customer satisfaction digital information, after the raster image processor RIP processing, become the corresponding monochrome pixel digital signal transmitted to the laser controller, emit the corresponding laser beam. Scan the printing drum. The printing roller made of the sensitive material is sensitized to form an image that can absorb ink or toner and then transferred to the substrate.
