Band-aid Usage Guide

For minor cuts and bruises, we can follow the following steps:

(1) Wash your hands: Whether handling wounds for others or yourself, make sure your hands are clean to reduce the possibility of infection;

(2) Clean the wound: Rinse the wound with running water or soapy water to ensure that there is no debris, dirt and other foreign bodies or pollutants in the wound. Use soap to clean around the wound with soap, then rinse with running water, do not use soap directly on the surface of the wound rubbing, to avoid secondary damage;

(3) Hemostasis: Small wounds generally stop bleeding by themselves. If necessary, you can press gently with clean gauze until bleeding stops;

(4) Apply: Apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment or Vaseline to the wound to reduce the risk of infection and keep the wound moist. This step is not necessary and can be skipped if the wound is shallow and small;

(5) Bandaging: Cover the wound with a band-aid. Be careful not to touch the area covering the wound in the middle of the band-aid with your hands. The bandaging should not be too tight. If it is a finger injury, you can cut the adhesive area of the band-aid into two pieces before dressing, so that the band-aid and finger fit better.

(6) Observe the wound: When the band-aid becomes wet and dirty, replace it frequently, at least once a day, do not reuse it. When replacing the wound, pay attention to observe, if there is pus, long time not healed, pain aggravation, swelling and other conditions, timely medical treatment.
