Most of the formaldehyde in mattresses comes from the glue inside. At present, the glue used in mattresses is roughly divided into two kinds: water-based glue and hot melt glue. These two adhesives are widely used in our daily lives and are used to bond a variety of foams, nonwovens, pillow tops and other standard cushioning materials used in the manufacture of mattresses and furniture cushions.
Water-based adhesive is a kind of environment-friendly adhesive prepared by using natural polymer or synthetic polymer as adhesive and water as solvent or dispersant instead of toxic organic solvent which is polluted to environment. Existing water-based adhesives are not 100% solvent-free and may contain limited volatile organic compounds as additives to their water-based media in order to control viscosity or fluidity.
Features: strong viscosity, strong heat resistance, general environmental protection, before the final bonding, can be separated and repositioned, and after the setting, basically no noise. The cost is lower than hot melt adhesive, low-cost water-based adhesive impurities will be more, environmental protection can not be guaranteed, VOC volatiles, benzene, formaldehyde volatiles may not meet the standard.
Hot melt adhesive is composed of matrix resin + viscosifier + plasticizer + antioxidant + filler. The glue after melting becomes a liquid, which is sent to the surface of the bonded material through the hot melt hose and hot melt glue gun of the hot melt glue machine. The bonding is completed after cooling.
Features: viscosity and heat resistance is not water-based adhesive, insoluble in water, no moisture, is solid at room temperature, soft after heating can flow. The environmental protection of hot melt adhesive is very good, and the application field is also very wide, including when the children at home do handmade.
