Four Common Causes Of Malfunctions in Edge Banding Machines And Their Solutions

1. Problem with Material Pressure Leading to Edge Trimming and Polishing Unit Malfunction

Fault Cause: If the board is not tightly pressed or if the pressure beam is uneven, when the board reaches the gluing section, the gluing wheel and the pressing wheel apply pressure to the side of the board. This results in the displacement of the board, deviating from the baseline, and causing subsequent processes to be incomplete.

Solution: Tighten the board and ensure uniform tightness front and back. Then, place the reference ruler and the template wheel of the trimming tool against the board. Finally, adjust the tool until it functions ideally, resolving the issue.

2. Edge Trimming Reference Surface Not Touching the Board Surface in Edge Banding Machine

Fault Cause: The precise trimming of edge strips is achieved due to the horizontal reference ruler (slanting pressure wheel or arc against the board) and the straight reference ruler (template wheel). If they cannot closely adhere to the moving board, it will be impossible to achieve proper lines.

Solution: Introduce a long, flat-ended board into the automatic edge banding machine (without applying glue). When the board reaches the position covering polishing, scraping, fine trimming, and rough trimming, stop the conveyor belt. Using the board as a reference, align the mentioned horizontal and vertical reference components with the board. Bring the cutting edge of the tool close to the board edge, and perform fine-tuning until the desired effect is achieved.

3. Loose Screws Causing Instability in Edge Trimming

Solution: Identify the reference, tighten the screws, and adjust the tool.

4. Head Collision with Board in Edge Banding Machine

Fault Cause 1: Excessive downward speed or pressure in the rear head causes the reference ruler to impact the board, resulting in collisions.

Solution: Adjust the air cylinder of the rear head's intake/exhaust pressure valve to decrease the speed and force of the rear head's downward movement.

Fault Cause 2: Excessive upward pressure in the front head causes collisions when the board reaches this point.

Solution: Adjust the pressure in the upward movement pressure valve of the front head to make it gentler.

Fault Cause 3: Incorrect or damaged position of the downward signal travel switch in the front head. If the switch cannot be triggered or is damaged when the board reaches the designated position, the front head won't receive the downward signal, resulting in collisions.

Solution: Adjust the position of the travel switch or replace it.
