Cigarette Adhesive
Cigarette adhesive is an emulsion polymer produced using advanced manufacturing processes and high-quality raw materials. It features quick-drying, rapid adhesion, good fluidity, high bonding strength, stable application, no package opening, and no bubbling. It is non-toxic, odorless, non-corrosive, and non-polluting, and it does not contain phthalate plasticizers. This adhesive is primarily used for medium to high-speed cigarette tipping and wrapping, as well as cigarette packaging.
The viscosity of cigarette adhesive is a crucial technical parameter, but higher viscosity is not necessarily better. If the viscosity is too high, the adhesive cannot penetrate the gaps in the material being bonded, resulting in poor adhesion. Conversely, if the viscosity is too low, the adhesive will excessively penetrate the capillary pores of the material, leaving a very thin bonding layer between the materials, which significantly reduces bonding strength. Optimal viscosity allows the adhesive to penetrate the pores to a certain extent while retaining most of the adhesive between the bonding surfaces to form a robust bonding layer, achieving the best bonding effect.
As a specialized product, cigarette adhesive must remain non-toxic and harmless after combustion, and it must not affect the appearance of the cigarette after curing. Common physical and chemical properties of cigarette adhesives include the absence of organic solvents, non-toxicity, odorlessness, non-polluting nature, appropriate viscosity, and stability. The primary characteristic is a fast bonding speed.
In the cigarette manufacturing process, the adhesive application, particularly for tipping, involves coating under high shear rates.
Therefore, the shear resistance (rheological properties) of the tipping adhesive is crucial. Good shear resistance helps prevent adhesive spattering and ensures stable adhesive application during high-speed production. Additionally, good wet adhesion and wettability significantly reduce air leakage and poor bonding, and it adapts well to various types of tipping paper.
